I AM BABY!

Xavier is one week old today. Things are going pretty well, though everyone is stressed out due to some rough sleep. Both mom and baby had checkups with the doctor today, and while I haven't heard on how Erica's went, we did hit a little speed bump with Xavier. He had a hearing test today and while his right ear passed, his left did not. We're not sure what this all means at the moment, and we have an appointment with a hearing specialist in mid July to learn more. However, as it currently stands he doesn't hear much at all, if anything, from the left. Poor little guy. :( It may be something that clears up in time, but we'll have to wait and see. Until then, we are supposed to keep talking to him like he can hear out of both ears (perhaps to get the left stimulated enough, or to help his brain compensate for lack of stereo), and also keep up the conversation to encourage him to begin to coo back at us.

Ra is still freaked out over the baby and refuses to get close under his own will power. More often then not he sits in the hall or on a dresser just staring at this little thing that makes a loud noise and weird smells. I'm also happy to report that Xavier is immune to vacuum cleaners and ignores them while sleeping. This makes keeping the place tidy more enjoyable.

I'm heading home earlier then normal today to let mom get some much needed rest.
